Three different rates, three different jobs
Interior work can be quoted per square metre or per room. Labour-only rates assume the stated surface condition and exclude paint. Exterior packages may include materials and preparation: compare the named product, coat count, measured area and access before choosing.
Boundary walls need a surface-specific quote. Plastered walls may be measured by area, while precast panels can be priced by panel. Preparation and compatible primers depend on the substrate and existing finish. Persistent moisture needs investigation before repainting.
Prep is the job, and it is what fails
A paint job almost never fails from the top down; it fails from the wall out. A top coat bonded to dust, chalky old paint or unprimed bare plaster looks perfect the day the crew leaves and starts lifting within the year, because it is stuck to a powdery layer, not to the wall. That is why the cheap quote that skips prep is not a cheap job: you pay for a repaint sooner, and over worse surfaces the second time.
The quote identifies preparation for each surface. Add separate preparation only where the chosen package excludes it; a package that already includes prep should not charge for the same work twice.
How many coats you get
The quote states the primer and finish coats for the selected system. The preparation, primer and two-coat package differs from basic labour-only painting. Product instructions and the condition of the existing finish determine the correct specification.

How the job runs
You call or WhatsApp photos of the rooms or walls, and you get a guide estimate from the photos. A firm written quote follows after we measure on site, listing the surfaces, the prep, the coats and the paint grade and quantity, each on its own line. Nothing gets opened until you have that quote in hand, and the number of days on the job is in it, so you know how long your house is a worksite.
What we won’t paint over
A damp patch on an interior wall is not a painting problem. Painting over active damp seals the moisture into the wall, and the new coat fails from the inside; the repaint costs more than treating the cause would have. If we find damp on a wall you asked us to paint, we stop and tell you: that wall needs damp treatment first, and then we paint. A ceiling stain that comes back after painting is a leak telling you it is still there, and that goes to roof repairs or waterproofing, not a second coat.
Painting alongside the rest of the crew
Exterior repaints start with washing, and booking pressure washing with the exterior job cleans the walls in one pass and saves a second mobilisation. If the roof is due, the roof on the same visit is roof painting territory and quotes separately. And cracked plaster, sagging cornices or a gate post that needs attention before painting can start are handyman work the same crew can usually do on the day, so you are not waiting on a second contractor before the painting can begin.
