What the cleanup includes (and what it doesn’t)
In the cleanup
- Overgrowth cleared: lawns cut back to a mowable height in stages, edges re-cut where they have grown over the paving.
- Beds and borders: weeded out and cleared of seeding grass, turned back to soil you can plant in.
- Hedges and shrubs: cut back into shape, not shaved to the skeleton; the once-off cutback that resets the season.
- Swept and bagged: clippings and debris off the paving and into bags, ready for collection or a quoted load.
Priced separately
- Garden waste removal: a cleanup makes more waste than a regular visit. Removal is quoted per agreed load: see garden waste removal.
- Large tree work: felling and big-branch pruning is specialist tree work. We tell you when a job needs it rather than stretch a cleanup into one.
- Redesign and replanting: new beds, re-turfing and irrigation installs are quoted as projects, not folded into a cleanup.
How a cleanup gets booked
The sequence is photos, quote, date, job. You WhatsApp photos of the garden, we send back a guide quote, we book a date, and the price is confirmed on site before the first cut, never after it.
The crew arrives with everything the cleanup needs: mower, edge trimmer, hedge trimmer, shears, rakes and bags. There is nothing for you to supply.
By the time we leave, the deliverable is plain: lawn cut back and raked, beds weeded clear, hedges cut back into shape, paving swept, and the waste bagged and stacked for collection, or loaded and carted if you took the bakkie load.
How long a cleanup takes
A garden a few mows behind is a half-day for two of us. A garden that has gone a full season takes a team day, which is why badly overgrown cleanups are priced as a team day, not as a per-visit cleanup.
Size moves the quote the same way: a small townhouse garden a few mows behind lands near the bottom of the range, a large stand a season behind runs the top of it. The rare garden that needs two visits gets that said in the quote, not on the day.
What your garden looks like the day after
An overgrown lawn comes down in stages, not in one scalping; taking knee-high grass to carpet height in a single pass kills it. Expect the first cut to be priced at 1.5–2× a standard mow: it takes double passes and it is hard on blades. If the lawn is truly far gone, we say so before we start.
Beds look clear the same day. Hedges look shaped, not perfect; a hedge that has grown wide regains its shape over a season of trims, not in one cutback.
So the day after a cleanup, your garden looks tidy and back under control. It does not look like a show garden; that is what the monthly garden routine builds.
After the cleanup: keeping it that way

Will one visit fix a badly overgrown lawn?
It brings it under control, not back to bowling green. The first cut on an overgrown lawn is priced at 1.5–2× a normal mow and comes down in stages so the grass survives. Full recovery takes a few weeks of regular mowing.
Do I have to sign up for the monthly service after the cleanup?
No. The once-off cleanup stands on its own. Regular maintenance is optional and quoted separately for your garden and visit frequency.

Before you book
Mark plants to keep and identify irrigation pipes, cables and hidden debris before clearing starts. Pruning timing and severity depend on the plant species and its condition.
